150 Years Campaign
Johns Hopkins’ sesquicentennial celebration will take place from July 2025 to December 2026. This page details our 150th anniversary’s visual identity, key messaging, and related tools and templates.
Overview
Our sesquicentennial celebration is an opportunity to boldly assert our transformative impact on communities, the nation, and the world. We are marking this milestone to foster deeper connections, ignite pride, and set our vision for the next 150 years.
Where there is need, we will solve for it. Where there is uncertainty, we will learn. And when there is a challenge, together we will rise to it.
Visual Identity
The 150th anniversary marks were created to promote this exciting occasion and engage our audiences in the celebration. These campaign marks and lock-ups are intended for use on communications and marketing materials related to the sesquicentennial. For general use or materials with a shelf life beyond the sesquicentennial celebration, the primary Johns Hopkins University logos are most appropriate.

Campaign Marks
Johns Hopkins’ 150th campaign mark pairs the JH monogram with a 150 Years numeric graphic. Variations of the primary campaign mark, including simple and detailed, are also available for use as space calls for. This mark is available in multiple colorways and orientations.

Primary Lock-Up
The 150th campaign mark will appear most often locked to the right of the Johns Hopkins University logo, separated by a thin stroke. Division logo lock-ups are available upon request. It is not permitted to lock the campaign mark to unit lock-ups, location lock-ups, custom logos, event graphics, or any other mark not specifically mentioned in these guidelines.

Limited-Use Lock-Up
In select instances when a singular mark is required to articulate both the University and Medicine to external audiences, this limited-use Johns Hopkins wordmark may be locked-up with the 150th anniversary campaign mark. While the Johns Hopkins wordmark does NOT replace our primary JHU logo, it serves as a representation of the holistic community. Available for download upon request.
Visual Identity Style Guide
Download the full visual identity guidelines PDF for more information on the campaign mark usage requirements, approved lock-ups, sample visual expressions, and more.
Typography
The primary licensed fonts for the 150th anniversary identity are Arnhem and Gentona. Web substitutions include Proxima Nova and Freight Text Pro. Tahoma and Georgia are alternative system fonts for those who do not have access to licensed fonts. Titling Gothic and Quadon remain part of the greater Johns Hopkins University visual identity, but should not be used on materials specific to the sesquicentennial celebration.
Note: Adobe Garamond is used for the Campaign Mark and Johns Hopkins University logos, but should not be used in any other communications.
Recommended font pairings include:
- Arnhem Blond and Gentona Book
- Gentona Semibold and Arnhem Blond
- Gentona Bold (all caps) and Arnhem Blond Italic

The 150th anniversary identity leans into the Johns Hopkins University primary color, Heritage Blue. Secondary color use is limited to Spirit Blue, Medium Blue, Grey, and White. 150 Tag
The 150 Tag follows similar guidance to the brand’s Shield Tag and is intended to meet the unique limitations of responsive design (e.g. website navigation resizing across platforms). When used, an official Johns Hopkins logo must also be present in the design, such as in a website footer.

Pattern
A special pattern was developed using the 150 simple numeric mark. The pattern is available in Heritage Blue, Spirit Blue, and white, and works best when placed over the defined gradient at a 20% opacity.
