Department Responsible: Government, Community and Economic Partnerships (GCE)

Collaborators: University Communications

Goal: Deliver a new event branding and signage package for three annual GCE community events (Vernon Rice Memorial Turkey Drive, Holiday Gift Drive, and Expungement Clinic). The design system should be Hopkins forward, but distinctive to the mission of each event.

Deliverables: Specialty print and digital deliverables, as well as editable Marq templates and an asset library for quick-turn materials. Full scope included:

  • Visual identity and style sheet
  • Banners & posters
  • Photo Backdrop
  • Directional Signage
  • Templates (social media, flyers, PowerPoint, email, etc.)
  • Custom wrapping paper

Design Thinking: For each of the three events, we wanted to align with the JHU brand, unify as a GCE community event, and offer a visually distinct look. Previously, these events were branded inconsistently, using colors and fonts outside the JHU palette. In the new system, Heritage Blue and Spirit Blue were utilized as the primary colors, with an accent color from the brand’s secondary palette assigned to each event to offer more distinction. Title treatments were created using the same brand font and attributes. A themed icon set was also designed for each event, following the established brand icon style.
